Metlili

This is where I  live, it's a small town in Southern Algeria named Metlili. The tribe here is the Chaambia tribe, their origins are Yemen and the population is about 25,000. This is a valley, completely surrounded by mountains and full of date trees as the reservoir underneath it, I have been  told, is one of the largest in the world. So said it is the reason the Arabs that migrated here stayed.

  11. essalaamu aylikoum.....thank you for your pictures..........i was sent to them by "google alerts" because back in the 1970s i heard a very brief track on a lp record of the Hadra
( 7adra ) of the chaamba of metlili and ever since then i have been on the lookout for any music from your oasis....malheureusement, there have been no commercial recordings since then.....every rai singer, rapper and garage band puts out a cd but a music that has existed for centuries goes unheard....j'attend encore....essalaamu aylikoum.......mohamed mexiqui
