Basbousa Recipe, Yes, I know, Another One ...

Here is a really quick and easy basbousa recipe. It's for a smaller version, like a 9 or 10 inch pie plate. It's especially for those of us with smaller families (not I, didn't know? I just gave birth to our 6th!) or those of us who don't want access to large amounts of goodies because we lack total control over our (sweet and salty, salty not related to this post obviously) eating {not I (bashful eye roll)}

1 1/4 cup semolina
1/2 cup ground almonds (I *accidently* added more than that in the batter like 3/4 cup, still yummy though!)
2 ts baking powder
1 ts salt
1/4 cup sugar
2 tbs orange flower water
1 ts vanilla
1 cup milk
1/2 cup melted butter
1 beaten egg

Preheat oven to 350.
Mix the dry ingredients together and set aside.
Combine and mix the wet ingredients.
Combine the dry and wet, pour into sprayed or buttered 9 or 10 inch pie plate.
Bake 30-40, until golden brown and springs back to touch.
Prepare the syrup by combining 2 cups sugar and 2 cups water, bring to a boil and let boil for 10 minutes. Set aside and add 1/8 cup orange blossom water.
Pour syrup on baked cake, cut and serve with coffee or mint tea!
